Having worked in film🎬, video games 🕹 and immersive media 🥽 for decades now, the problems of the so-called metaverse have become more and more obvious to us. To tackle those problems, while taking into account the metaverse being the next iteration of today’s internet, we asked ourselves about the significant contributing factors leading to the success of the Web 1.0 & 2.0, and what kind of best practices can be transferred to its next iteration? 🥇
There is more than just one single factor, of course. We agree that discoverability and interoperability are of high importance to the initial Web, as well as for tomorrow’s metaverse. 💡
Back in the day, the web was a completely new domain for people to discover. Likewise, operating an avatar within a three-dimensional space these days is quite new to most people, let alone doing so with wearables like glasses or contact lenses or meeting other virtual beings and spending digital, decentralized money. 😱
To start this new era of spatial computing successfully, it will be necessary once again to first provide accessibility. ARRIVAL.SPACE, which came into fruition in early 2022, does exactly this and much more. We are working diligently to develop it as an extended, multi-level reality and see it as an opportunity to implement within this medium our learnings from over the years.
Let’s go from ‘surfing the web’ to ‘living the web’ together.
Let’s create open, accessible, secure, diverse, inclusive, fun, and fully interoperable virtual ecosystems together!
